Queensland government has given the green light to the construction of a film studio in Cairns.

Far North Queensland has historically been a popular location for film production companies and filmmakers, with part Fool’s Gold (Warner Brothers, 2008) shot in the region, as well as The Thin Red Line (Fox Studios, 1998) and the award winning miniseries The Pacific (Steven Spielberg, 2010).

A former Bunnings site in Cairns will soon be home to a $6.8m film and television studio, according to Queensland Parliament and state member for Mulgrave, Curtis Pitt.
